The short version

Pasted text and local files are processed in the browser. For a URL, only the URL is sent to the extraction service; the returned text is not stored.

What we collect

Plausible Analytics records anonymous page views, browser type, country, and which buttons you press (start, pause, change speed). No cookies. No fingerprints. No personal data. See plausible.io/privacy for their full policy.

What about my text?

Pasted text and local files are processed in the browser. Web article URLs use a reader-mode extraction service; extracted text is not stored.

Settings storage

Your voice, speed, and display preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device. Clear your site data to reset.

Advertising

Wordcast loads Google's AdSense script so Google can verify the site, but no ads are shown yet. If advertising is enabled later, Google and its third-party vendors may use cookies, web beacons, and IP addresses to serve and measure ads based on your prior visits to Wordcast and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads, and opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Before any ads are shown to visitors in the EU, UK, and Switzerland, Wordcast will display a Google-certified consent message. Google's advertising privacy policy is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
